If you’ve been hanging around BooneyLiving.com for long, you probably already know how excited I get about new and interesting products that are supposed to help us conserve energy and take better care of the earth.
Yesterday a friend of mine sent me an e-mail telling me about a product that he is going to be selling soon called EnviroTabs®. This is a fuel treatment tablet that is designed to be added to your gas tank each time you fill up at the pump.
After spending a little bit of time poking around the Greenfoot Global website, I learned that the product is an “organometallic metal conditioner that acts as a burn-rate modifier that catalyzes fuel”. I must admit that I have absolutely no idea what that means but apparently the product is supposed to decrease harmful emissions, increase horsepower and performance, make your engine last longer, increase the life of your engine oil, make your engine run cooler, decrease maintenance costs, make it so that your engine can run on regular instead of premium gasoline, and increase your fuel mileage.
I pride myself on being open minded when it comes to these types of things and I think that many viable technologies are often brushed under the rug by naysayers who won’t even give these types of products a try. Having said that, I find myself a little bit skeptical. After spending about an hour on the Greenfoot global website, I’m reminded of the old “snake oil salesman” of the past.
It’s a little bit of a tough pill (pun intended) for me to swallow to believe that adding one tablet of this miracle product to my gasoline every time I fill up the tank will actually be able to do all of these things. Even though I’m skeptical, I’m actually looking forward to testing the product. I won’t have the capability of testing many of the claims that are made but testing whether or not I actually see an increase in my fuel mileage will be simple enough.
I’m really looking forward to receiving the samples of the product so that I can put it to the test. I’ll be testing these fuel treatment pills in two vehicles. One is a 1997 Toyota RAV4 and the other is a 1994 Subaru Loyale. Testing the product in two vehicles will give me twice the data which will be nice.
The Greenfoot Global company even has a 60 day 100% money back satisfaction guarantee. After reading through the terms of their guarantee, I see that you’re supposed to add the product to eight tanks of gas. The friend who is sending me the samples is even sending me some forms that I can use to easily keep track of my gas mileage testing.
Here’s a video from the makers of EnviroTabs® that talks about the product a bit.
I spent a little bit of time reading about similar products on the Internet and there’s quite a bit of controversy surrounding these types of fuel additives. There are plenty of people who claim that this is just a big hoax but there are also plenty of people claiming that they have tested the product and it actually works as advertised. I’ve decided to reserve judgment and test the product for myself so be sure and check up on this article frequently as I will be documenting the entire test as the data comes in.
If anyone should happen to have any questions about this product in the meantime, you can send an email to Michael Long at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
1-11-2011 Update: I received my EnviroTabs Test Drive Kit in the mail today.
It came with a DVD, an instruction booklet, a form to record the fuel mileage that I’ll be getting during the test, and a packet of 10 EnviroTabs. I’m going to get my oil changed this weekend and have my husband replace the air filter in my car and then I’ll begin the testing.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the results. Be sure and check back to see what the results actually are!
11-8-2013 Update: I have an embarrassing confession to make. When I initially heard about this product I was eager to try it. Unfortunately the procrastinator in me took over and I never actually got around to testing it. As a matter of fact I seem to have misplaced the packet of pills somewhere in my house.
As a result of this, I’m reaching out to my readers for feedback. If you have actually tested this product, please send me an email and I’ll post your comments on my website.
